Airmail - Lightning Fast Email App Reviews

I was a long time user, but I’m moving on

I have used Airmail for a long time. Nicely organized, good looking design, generally useful. But the latest version of the app insists on creating unecessary folders in all my email accounts. Airmails task management features and the accompanying todo, notes, etc. folders have been around for a while, and you used to be able to turn them off. I use my email for email, not for task management, so those folders are completely unnecessary to me. But now Airmail insists that those folders must exist in every mail account you have. If you unmap them and delete the folders by hand (turning them off), the next time you launch the app, Airmail will recreate and remap them. This may or may not be an issue for you. The rest of the app is just fine. But if you don’t use Airmails task management features and you don’t like your email accounts cluttered with unnecessary folders, you won’t like Airmail.

Great Support

So far, very pleased with Airmail. Got it to replace Apple Mail, which came with my iMac. Emails kept disappearing on their own and after doing some research, It seems to be a chronic issue. Someone had suggested I try Airmail, glad I did. And thank you to - Sarah for helping me out when I needed assistance.

ALERT! AVOID! Will cost you friends and clients!!!

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APPLICATION!!! It has cost me thousands of dollars. An error in it caused NONE of my emails to go out over the last month or more. Worse still, the emails disappear. Not in drafts, not in sent. You will have NO idea that the emails were never sent... until someone tells you that you never replied to them. And then another person. And then another person. Nothing is worth losing the peace of mind that what you sent, actually went out. UPDATE: I finally completely deleted this app form my system. The number of people that did not receive emails has only grown in number and I have no way of determining who did not recieve them or what emails were not received. This is an app that can cost you your JOB, your MONEY, your RELATIONSHIPS! Imagine sending out your emails and never knowing they didnt go out and never being able to retreive them. When I talked to tech support they were aware of the issue and offered a fix in settings. Notice no advisory notifications or updates have been made. THIS IS A COMPANY YOU WANT TO AVOID!!!!

Love the App Design

I have tried to use these app’s plural (iOS and mac) for the last sevearl weeks and certiain things have worked in ways I have expected. However the simple things we have come to use everyday that seems to have been around since using attachments in e-mail don’t seem to work correctly. The mac app seems to have some issues with image attachments, you can only save one at a time, really? Apple mail allows you to save them all, not sure what gives. I can live with that until Airmail 4, however iOS Airmial has some strange issues with forwarding an e-mail that includes image or word attachments that just don’t work. It does not even ask you if you want to include the attachements, just sends the e-mail. In the mean time I have angry boss looking for this attachment, as I struggle to get Airmail to send the propoerly, really? So on my iOS device I the create my mail acccount to get it to download the e-mail and then sent it to my already frustrated boss, thats in a meeting. Was this app tested in those areas? I am using a IMAP account in both cases if this helps. 7-18-16 New update Version 3.0.1 (375) this morning, did the update and the link broke with Wunderlist, IMAP e-mail account, appeared to be some sort of lag, after contacing Mark in support via chat. I signed in and out of Wunderlist app and the Airmail 3 app. Still didn’t work so I went on about my day and tried it a short while later about a half an hour and things were back to to normal. Thanks again Mark!! BTW they fixed the problem I was having with attachments before, when forwarding an e-mail the attachments would not forward on the iPhone app version, now however this works perfectly now!!

Getting better all the time

I’ve had some real issues and have considered moving back to Imail but there are a couple of features that keep me glued. Fortunantly AirMail 3 has fixed a lot of the no load issues and clunkyness of the program. Support has gotten better. Sarah helped me with getting my messages off the exchange server by setting up a local account on my Mac. I’m sticking with AirMail 3 and will be excited to see what they do next. I was at 3 stars a month or so ago…..I’m up to 4 now :)

Airlmail Customer Support

Just a very quick review to say I love the Airmail client and had my first “issue” today with my Hotmail account not displaying properly (after a year of use). I spoke to Paul from their online support tool at 9:25 pm at night and he resolved the issue in minutes. That’s how customer support should be done. Thanks guys!

Loving it!

Making the switch from Apple Mail to Airmail 3. Had some issues trying to get my Exchange archives moved over and had a handful of general user questions. Mark has been fantastic over the past two days getting my questions answered. Have my archives all loaded in and searchable. Love this app and the support has been top notch!

Update: New Version Adds EXCEPTIONAL Feature! Buy This!

Update - CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWESOME - MARK STRIKES AGAIN FOR ALL US USERS OUT THERE. I asked for a simple mod as a user. AND MARK GOT IT DONE FOR US! They just added a “SNOOZE/REMINDER” feature to SENDING your MAIL. This is incredible. As you type your letter you know you want to be reminded of the rply, or the compliance of the party you sare sending to. Hit the BELL ICON and set a reminder for a minute or a year or more. Then, when you wanted to be reminded to follow up, the mail YOU SENT appears in your INBOX like a new MAIL! Following the info below I wrote initially. This is THE BEST MAIL PRODUCT AVAILABE FOR MAC. TRY IT AND YOU WILL LOVE IT. MORE STABLE AND MORE ROBUST WITH MORE OPTIONS THAN APLE MAIL AND TOTALLY STABLE. ALMOST NO LEARNING CURVE. IT JUST WORKS THE WAY YOU THINK! ENJOY! I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU GAIN PRODUCTIVITY AND PEACE OF MIND! ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is so easy and efficient to use. The SNOOXZE feature lets you quickly have auto reminders when you want the,. This is exceptionally robust and rarely has any issues. Solid and reliable and WAY better than Apple Mail. Use on Apple Watch is great too. Here’s a letter I sent to their customer service pro after making inquiries and providing suggestions. Know you can count on a prompt and intelligent response from this team! "Mark you are extremely responsive and an asset to your company. You have repeatedly been there and answered positively and intelligently to all my concerns. Please forward this to your boss so they know the program and your support are truly exceptional!"

Odd quirks on my mac

Having odd issues with getting the signatures to work correctly. I finally figured out a way to add signatures manually without having them add automatically and even that took some trial and error. the boxes in preferences on my mac looks nothing like what is on the screenshots in airmail help with regard to signatures. Beyond that, seems to be fine. i bought this app in anticipation of its, allegedly, imminent integration with sidekick.

Wonderful app, very powerful software

Pretty great app! Mark is really quick with the customer support feedback, responds within the hour (at least for me, and it was very early in the morning). No real complaints about the app at all. I think it’s beautifully done, with lots of features that can make it as simple or as complicated as you need it to be (I chose the complicated route with a ton of rules to make my email tasks much simpler).

Mostly good

Mostly love this app compared to Mac Mail but a serious flaw is that you can’t navigate through your inbox using the 3-finger swipe gesture that I used extensively in Mail that makes going through email so quick. There are keyboard shortcuts but really, who uses them? Not sure why this wouldn’t be implemented in an otherwise great email program.

The best mail app

I have 5 mailboxes which I use all the time and airmail does the great job. It has a bunch of settings which are very helful. Also, as a UI designer, I like it clean interface. Tech support works fine, special thanks to Steven.

Horibly slow

Each day it becaming slower and slower, I guess i’ve reached a limit of their internal db. Maybe a month ago it was taking a few seconds to download new email from the server, but now it’s few minutes. All this time it displays only a title of the email, and «(-) Loading» indicator instead of the email body. Few minutes! So now I usually answer using gmail webclient or ios native client, and Airmal is useful only when you left you mac for few hours and want to read email after returning.

Heads and shoulders above the rest!

I had been looking for a mail client that did a little more than the stock OS X mail app, which I have to admit wasn’t bad at all. This really filled the bill for me, offering so many customizations that make a tedious experience much more reliable and easy. I’m using it on my Mac, iPad, iPhone and Watch and am very happy with the app. When I had a problem or issue, Sarah provided excellent customer service and got me back on track! Once the SMIME feature is stabilized, I’ll come back and give it that fifth star. If you’re looking for a good e-mail app, look no further!

Fully featured, but interface needs improvement

This mail app is packed with helpful features. Unfortunately, their user interface needs a lot of improvements, mostly to their navigation pane (see Apples Mail.app navigation pane). First of all, there seems to be no way to get icons of key folders in the navigation pane, meaning there is no icon for “inbox”, “archive”, “sent”, “trash”, etc. Without icons, you have to read each folder’s name rather than just glancing at them. My second biggest gripe only effects people who have multiple email accounts. If you want to view your inbox for an individual account, you can’t quickly navigate to it like you can in Apples Mail.app. Instead, you have to switch accounts every single time. While this only involves a few more clicks, it is rather clunky and makes this app feel like it is still under development, rather than a premium mail application. My other complaints are about small usability issues scattered across the entire app.

Responsive Customer Support

I send emails on a saturday back and forth and never more than an hour before someone got back to me! Even into the night! Oh and the app usually works great too.

A great mail app!

It does everything thing I need. Connects to Todoist as well as Asana, easy integration with evernote and iCal. It is easy to customise to your own preferences. The only downside is that some of the features are a bit challenging to figure out; It is not alwasy as intuitive as it could be. However, as you can see from my rating I am more than satisfied. I would also like to add that their customer service seems to be outstanding. I contacted support because I couldn’t figure out how to create a VIP (a very useful feature). Sarah got right back to me and gave me several suggestions. She was so quick in getting back to me that it was almost as good as live chat. My biggest regret is that after purchasing this desktop app I also have to purchase the iOS versioin if I want total sync abilities. But, overall I highly recommend this email app.

Perfection

Airmail is the gold standard for all mail apps to achieve for. I’ve tested a bunch, and they all fall short. Fast, feature-rich, it doesn’t get any better than this. Not to mention their support is outstanding as well—I had an issue and opened a support ticket and literally within minutes Steven replied with exactly what I needed to fix my issue. The support is as good as the application itself.

Great product

Wow…. I have been searching for a mail client for mac for such a long time. Finally a client that works for businesses (read receipt / delay message sending etc.) plus the customer service that works (Mark). Strongly recommended

Great product, unreliable on laptops, lacklustre support

Great product, some really useful and interesting features like Markdown and Spamsieve however if you move around on a laptop connecting and disconnecting from access points all day, its really unreliable for sendiing emails. No matter how many compelling features an email client might have if it cant send emails reliably, its pretty useless. Working with Support to troubleshoot this problem is simply a waste of time because they either provide short, almost curt responses or completely dodge addressing direct questions like "is this a known problem or not?" However, they are very responsive, Ill give them that. Anyway, I hope the product improves its reliability but for now Ill go back to Apple Mail which does send emails reliably.
